Getting Started with numiqo

Author: Dr. Hannah Volk-Jesussek
Updated:

numiqo is an easy-to-use, web-based statistics software that runs directly in your browser. Because it’s a web application, there’s no need to download or install anything.

Data Security

numiqo is designed so that all calculations are performed directly in your web browser and not on an external server. As a result, your data is not transmitted to any external server.

Step by Step

1. Open numiqo

numiqo works on all modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) and does not require any setup. Just visit the statistics calculator numiqo.

2. Enter or Upload Your Data

Simply copy your data from Excel or another spreadsheet and paste it directly into the numiqo table, or click on Export/Import to upload a file (.xlsx, .csv, .sav, .numiqo).

3. Select Analysis Type and Variables

Navigate to the appropriate tab depending on your analysis needs and select the Variables.

Select Analysis

For example, if you are on the tab Hypothesis tests and select two metric variables, a paired t-test or independent t-test is calculated, or the Mann-Whitney U test or the Wilcoxon test if the assumptions for the t-test are not met. If three metric variables are clicked on, an ANOVA is calculated.

4. Interpret the Results

numiqo presents your results in a clean, easy-to-read format. Tables and charts are generated automatically. You can: Copy results into your reports or presentations. Download charts as image files.

Data Preparation

Before evaluating your data, it’s essential to prepare it properly. Data preparation for statistical analysis often takes more time than expected. While numiqo allows you to transform data, we recommend starting the preparation in Excel. Once your data is in the desired format, simply paste it into numiqo.

Missing values

In numiqo you can define how missing values are treated in your data. To do this, simply click on Settings in the statistics calculator and enter the values that should be declared as missing.

Level of measurement and value labels

If the data are in the desired form, the level of measurement and value labels can be determined in numiqo. numiqo automatically chooses the metric scale level for all variables where numerical values are contained, if words are contained the nominal scale level is selected.

If a nominal variable with numbers is inserted in numiqo, numiqo initially assumes that it is a metric variable, this must then be changed manually. If the level of measurement is not recognized correctly, it can of course also be changed by hand, go to the Variable View. Here you can edit all variable properties.

Data preparation

Settings

Under "Settings" you can make further settings. You can define which values are considered missing. Furthermore, you can also define whether the decimal separator is a comma or a dot, how many decimal places you want to have displayed and how your data is separated that you want to copy to numiqo (usually leave this field empty).
