The chart has a reference line, selectable size, an optional selected-cutoff point, and optional pointwise 95% percentile bootstrap confidence bands for sensitivity at fixed specificity values. The bands use 2,000 stratified resamples and are not simultaneous confidence regions. **Cutoff purposes** — Balanced analysis maximizes the Youden index J = sensitivity + specificity − 1. Screening requires a user-defined minimum sensitivity and then maximizes specificity among eligible observed cutoffs. Confirmatory or rule-in testing requires a user-defined minimum specificity and then maximizes sensitivity. Existing-cutoff analysis evaluates the entered threshold without optimizing it on the current data. **Cutoff results** — As applicable, the result contains the cutoff, sensitivity, specificity, Youden J, LR+, LR−, PPV, NPV, true positives, false negatives, true negatives, and false positives. Stratified bootstrap 95% percentile intervals are calculated for the cutoff and performance measures. Optimized cutoffs are reselected in every resample; an existing cutoff remains fixed. PPV and NPV use the prevalence represented in the analyzed dataset and can change in another population. **Multiple curves** — One outcome with several tests creates paired curves from shared participant rows. Separate outcome–test pairs create independent curves and are mapped in left-to-right column order. A categorical grouping variable creates one independent curve per valid group. Groups without both valid positive and negative observations are suppressed. **Comparisons** — Paired curves use paired DeLong AUC comparisons on comparison-specific complete rows. Separate samples and groups use unpaired DeLong comparisons. The output contains the AUC difference, its uncertainty, and p-value. When several pairwise hypotheses are tested, Holm-adjusted p-values are also reported. **Missing observations and limitations** — Every curve uses rows for which its required outcome and test values are valid. Paired comparisons use rows complete for both compared tests, so the comparison-specific AUC difference can differ from subtracting individual AUCs based on all available data. AUC measures discrimination rather than calibration. Data-derived cutoffs can be optimistic and should be validated in independent data. Very small or strongly imbalanced samples produce uncertain results. **Validation** — The implementation has automated statistical reference fixtures based on pROC workflows for missing, paired, independent, and grouped data.
